The "Landestalsperrenverwaltung des Freistaates Sachsen" (LTV)

The LTV is a state-owned enterprise in the portfolio of the Saxon Ministry of State of Environment and Agriculture. She manages the 115 saxon reservoirs for the provision of raw water for the drinking and custom water supply, to the flood control and to the low water elevation. Furthermore the LTV is responsible for 3000 km of running waters in the Free State of Saxony.


The LTV is running 4 laboratories for chemically/biologically monitoring of its reservoirs. All laboratories are accredited according to DIN ISO 17025 for the sampling from surface water, the identification and enumeration of freshwater phytoplankton. Furthermore the accreditation as a supplier of proficiency tests is planned.

The "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Trinkwassertalsperren e.V." (ATT)


ATT is a non profit association in the Federal Republic of Germany consisting of 40 water supply companies, associations, administrations, universities and research institutes who are concerned with the production and distribution of drinking water from reservoirs.


The Biology Working Group is one of six working groups within the ATT.  Its members deal with limnological and microbiological questions which result from the management of the reservoirs and catchment areas as well as from the purification of drinking water.

Etwa 10% aller Menschen in Deutschland werden mit Trinkwasser, welches aus Talsperren gewonnen wird versorgt. Ungefähr 90% dieses Talsperrenwassers kommt aus den nahezu 70 Trinkwasser-talsperren der ATT Mitgliedunternehmen.

Die Talsperre Leibis/Lichte (Thüringer Fernwasserversorgung) speichert ca. 40 Mio. qm Wasser. Aus dieser Talsperre und der angeschlossenen Trinkwasserauf-bereitungsanlage werden zukünftig ca. 400.000 Menschen im Raum Ostthüringen mit Trinkwasser versorgt.
Die Talsperre Eibenstock ist mit ca. 80 Mio qm Gesamtstauraum die größte Talsperre in Sachsen.
